Hormone replacement therapy, often called HRT or hormone therapy, replaces hormones such as estrogen and progesterone that decline during perimenopause and menopause. For some women, providers also consider testosterone or DHEA.
At RenewRx, your provider starts with your symptoms, health history, and lab work, then decides whether HRT is appropriate and which hormone protocols are best for your needs and goals. Some options are FDA-approved products; others are prescribed as compounded medications.
Hormone therapy is not right for everyone. Your provider will review benefits, risks, and alternatives with you before any prescription.

Your provider uses your labs and symptoms to guide the plan, not a one-size-fits-all dose.
Plans include follow-up so your provider can review how you feel and adjust as needed.
Many women look into HRT when hormone shifts start affecting daily life. After detailed bloodwork, a provider will review your markers to find out what is driving your symptoms. The provider will then discuss with you to determine your protocol.*
The transition years before menopause, when hormone levels fluctuate.
Defined as 12 months without a period, when estrogen and progesterone are lower.

“Bioidentical” describes hormones with the same molecular structure as those your body makes.
The term is about chemical structure, not about where a hormone comes from or how it is made. Estradiol, the main form of estrogen, and progesterone are the most common examples.
Bioidentical hormones come in more than one form. Some are available as FDA-approved products made in standardized strengths. Others are prescribed as compounded medications, prepared by a licensed pharmacy for an individual patient, which can allow different strengths or delivery forms such as creams or capsules.
Which option makes sense depends on your lab results, symptoms, health history, and preferences. Your provider will explain the options that apply to you and what to expect from each.
Compounded medications are not reviewed or approved by the FDA for safety or effectiveness. “Bioidentical” and “natural” are not the same as “safer,” and your provider will explain the differences for any option they recommend.

When clinically appropriate, a provider may prescribe a compounded formulation.
